About ISS - Our Organisation Ethos and Values

About The King’s Foundation

ISS is run by The King’s Foundation Ltd, a not for profit registered Christian educational charity (1105460) that uses sport and activity to help children and young people to develop and mature into responsible members of society.

King’s is passionate about child development and as well as organising the largest network of children’s camps in the UK, the foundation works with children and young people in greatest need in both the UK and in the developing world. Currently the foundation is developing a network of sports and activity camps for children that are victims of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Botswana and Uganda in Africa.

With over 15 years experience, King’s acts as an advisor to many other childcare related organisations such as the NHS, Social Services, Eurocamp, Keycamp and Cunard Line.

The ethos behind ISS

School holidays should be memorable; they should put back the zest in young people. Our programmes lead to enthusiasm, purpose and fulfilment and school holidays become exactly what they should be – great fun! Our aim is to inspire them and motivate them so that sport is enjoyable and rewarding, whatever their ability. Our staff teams help develop personal skill and awareness of others; they are there to encourage and enthuse the children. It is our priority to ensure that every child is made to feel unique and valued. Our camps are about gaining self-confidence and social skills through age sensitive programmes that encourage and inspire. Perhaps your child is a future champion, or perhaps it’s the taking part that counts, whatever their aim in sport, we are committed to helping them reach their potential.

Quality & Safety

With 15 years experience and the largest network of day camps in the UK, we have an exemplary health and safety history and your children’s safety is our priority. King’s Camps in the UK are registered with OFSTED and Care Standards Inspectorate in Wales. We are also members of the British Activity Holiday Association who carry out a rigorous annual inspection routine.

Staff Selection and Training

All our staff must be interviewed, provide professional and personal references and be cleared through an enhanced disclosure.

Each manager is a qualified and experienced teacher or instructor and attends our Management Training and Development Programme. All of our coaches go through a comprehensive staff training programme that includes:

  • Supervision of children.
  • Child protection.
  • First aid.
  • Fire procedures.
  • Equipment safety.

No person applying for the position available will be treated less favourably than any other person on the grounds of their race, colour, religion, language, culture, gender, appearance, disability, marital status, class, personality or lifestyle. We endeavour to employ staff that represent in some way the different ethnic groupings of children attending the camps.
